Model Identification using Continuous Glucose Monitoring Data for Type 1 Diabetes ?

چکیده
This paper addresses model identification of continuous-discrete nonlinear models for people with type 1 diabetes using sampled data from a continuous glucose monitor (CGM). We compare five identification techniques: least squares, weighted least squares, Huber regression, maximum likelihood with extended Kalman filter and maximum likelihood with unscented Kalman filter. We perform the identification on a 24-hour simulation of a stochastic differential equation (SDE) version of the Medtronic Virtual Patient (MVP) model including process and output noise. We compare the fits with the actual CGM signal, as well as the shortand long-term predictions for each identified model. The numerical results show that the maximum likelihood-based identification techniques offer the best performance in terms of fitting and prediction. Moreover, they have other advantages compared to ODE-based modeling, such as parameter tracking, population modeling and handling of outliers.

Background and Aim: Appropriate control of blood sugar delays the onset and progression of diabetes mellitus (DM) complications. Nurses have a decisive role in the education of self-care behaviors to diabetic patients, including self-monitoring of blood glucose. The current study aimed at assessing the effect of educational intervention based on continuous care model on self-monitoring of blood...
متن کاملProfessional Continuous Glucose Monitoring for the Identification of Type 1 Diabetes Mellitus Among Subjects With Insulin Therapy
The identification of type 1 diabetes in diabetic subjects receiving insulin therapy is sometimes difficult. The purpose of this study is to evaluate whether results of professional continuous glucose monitoring can improve the identification of type 1 diabetes. From 2007 to 2012, 119 adults receiving at least twice-daily insulin therapy and professional continuous glucose monitoring were recrui...

AIMS AND OBJECTIVES The aim of this study was to develop role model data for an intervention to motivate non-exercising individuals with type 2 diabetes mellitus to engage in regular physical activity. Toward that end, the study 1) described Continuous Glucose Monitoring System data and obtained role model CGMS graphs, 2) described a monitor to measure exercise amount and intensity and 3) explo...
